Tenshin Ryu Hyoho

Register / details on ActiveNet Open in the covac calendar

Tenshinryu Hyoho is a comprehensive martial art that includes kenjutsu (swordsmanship), battojutsu (sword drawing techniques), sojutsu (spear techniques), naginatajutsu, kusarigamajutsu (chain and sickle techniques), jujutsu, and also incorporates jumonji-sojyutsu (cross-shaped spear techniques) as an ancillary tradition. From the founder's time, practitioners always wear a kodachi (short sword) during training, and it passes down the traditional techniques of tachi (long sword) used in battle scenarios, referred to as Koshiki. It not only teaches many weapon techniques, but also instills the philosophy known as Denchu-Toho Saya-no-uchi, which emphasizes resolving conflicts without drawing the sword.

The art encompasses extensive techniques and strategies for all aspects of a samurai's life, including lying down, rising, sitting, standing, walking, and running. It is a rare school that values and preserves the etiquette, manners, and terminology of the samurai, leaving them for modern times.

Our Dojo is recognized by the main Dojo and masters in Japan and we are part of a global network.
