Tai Chi (taijiquan) is an "internal" style of Chinese martial arts, based on the principle of the interplay of Yin and Yang. The slow and graceful movements of Tai Chi promote the flow of Qi though the body, and promote mental and physical balance. The Yang style is named for the family that developed this particular lineage, and is the most widely practiced style of Tai Chi in the world. Characterized by broad, open strokes, slow, even movements, and an upright posture, the traditional form (also known as the "long form") takes anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes to perform. In this course, we will study the first third, or so, of the sequence. Learning the entire form will take about one year. Drop-in $19, if space permits. No session Nov 10
